We at Childcare People are concerned about the Proposal 3.7.4 Mandating that new FDC Educators gain their Certificate III qualifcation before starting work.

Here in the NT where FDC Schemes have waiting lists for parents but are finding it hard to recruit for FDC Educators having this proposal as a regulation would inhibit parents from gaining care for their children severely.

To expect new FDC Educators to start their new business and gain a Cert III now remembering the new CHC30113 Certificate III delivered and assessed from a quality RTO does take approximately 12 months, is a huge ask. Let alone the fact that the new Certificate III has a complusory 120 hours of on the job learning and assessment as a component. Are we thinking that all new FDC Educators in the NT will give up paid work and volunteer for the 120 hours?

We'd like to hear from others is it concerning you? Perhaps we also need to lobby QECNT about the concerns?
