We often find that people are totally unprepared for an interview in ECEC.
Preparation is important - when asked how would you react to a toddler crying and hanging onto your legs, or how would you respond to a 3 year old boy who swore at you?
Many applicants are dumbfounded.
These are everyday occurances in the Early Childhood field and where employers are looking for those who are compassionate but also can set limits, questions like this help distinguish an applicants charatcer and weed out those applicants who are not really suitable.
Of course there are general team work and communciation questions to expect, and what skills would you bring to the position.
It would also help to have visited a Preschool, Childcare Centre or Early Childhood Service and have some more idea of just what routines etc can be expected, especially for applicants who don't have any children of their own, or worked with children previously.
And lastly you are definitely going to be given a question about why you would like to work with children. Answers such as I just love children will get you 0 points. Have a good think about it and answer honestly what attracts you to the position.
Good luck on future interviews, we are always here to help and are happy to help you in winning that new position.
